Time to look ahead for India in Twenty20 cricket

A lot has been said and written about India’s early exit from the Twenty20 World Cup, and there is no doubt that there will be plenty more of the same about how captain MS Dhoni’s tactical errors cost the team dear apart from the fact that the Men in Blue were affected by Virender Sehwag’s forced withdrawal because of injury as well as the fact that the bowling, fielding and batting departments didn’t click in unison through the tournament on a consistent basis.

Yes, it is indeed disappointing that India has failed to qualify for the knock-out stages of the Twenty20 World Cup, but let’s face it folks, it’s not the end of the world! And, remember this is the same team and captain who have been the toast of India for the last couple of seasons and one blip on the radar can’t possibly undo all the good work under Dhoni so far.

The Indian cricketers and support staff will undoubtedly have to lift themselves up from this disappointment and there is still a lot of cricket to be played before the next edition of the Twenty20 World Cup in the Caribbean in 10 months’ time. We list down a few important things that Team India needs to concentrate on not only in the run-up to the third edition of the T20 World Cup, but in general as well.

Trump Starlets win in Sharma cricket

Trump Starlets Club registered a 10 run victory against Jyoti Club in their league match of the Ratan Lal Sharma Memorial Monsoon Cricket Tournament at RB Tiwari Stadium, Lucknow on Wednesday.

Asked to bat first, Trump Starlets Club scored 148 runs losing all its wickets in 29 overs in the 30 overs-a-side match. Imran (42) and Pankaj Verma (25) were the main run-getters. But besides them, few others could stay at the crease for long due to the accurate bowling spell by M Salmaan who claimed five wickets giving away 37 runs.

Suspect in attack on Sri Lankan cricket team held

The Lahore police said on Wednesday that they had arrested one of seven suspects behind the attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team at the city’s Liberty Chowk on March 3.

Seven persons, including six policemen, were killed when the bus carrying the team from their hotel to the stadium was ambushed.

The team was being taken for the third day of the second Test against Pakistan.
